January 2026

Dry-aged fried chicken by Chef Neeks

Cooling off month. After last month's wonderful trip to Laos (Vientiane, Vang Vieng & Luang Prabang), and onwards to South-western China (Xishuangbana, Jingmai Mountains, Pu'er & Kunming), this first month of the new year was a slower eats month.

Still, we had some memorable eats such as: A Michelin Guide clamps noodles, good dry-aged fried chicken & Iberico ribs by Chef Neeks, good take-away Siamese Laksa, traditional style Soong Yee fish, and close the month with a superb Chinese fine-dining at Elite Youmiqi. We also tried the new Ramen David and give thumbs up!

October 2025

After last month's trip back to Penang for a wedding, this month's eats tone down a bit.

But we did have good eats of:

Home-cooked crabs at Ean's Kitchen, unique mooncake puffs from Pin by Eve, yummy Vietnamese food at Vietnomms, tried Bosnian food at The Ottoman. And revisited a couple of favourites - addictive Indian lunch at Tastebud and a feast of Spanish pork at Iberico Kitchen! Non-eats activities included visiting a pottery factory sale (where we bought lots), and watching the exciting movie Tron Ares.

June 2025

June was a month with an interesting start and a wonderful ending of yummy eats! Kicked off with a Dragon Prawn (aka lobster) sashimi at Elite Youmiqi, and ended with a great fusion meal at The Gathering Beast.

Other memorable eats were Bingsu desserts at Binq, and Choux Pastry Desserts from Orito TTDI (for Father's Day Dinner), and simple, packed meals for lunch, lovingly made by our DIL.

My late mum, Mamatan, makes the best curry pup, and I am always on the lookout for ones that can match hers – 8th June.

Pretty good ones from RSM KEDAI KUIH MUIH VADA, Brickfields. It's a roadside stall. Although the crust does not have adequate layers, the filling is tasty – 8th June.

This Homi handcrafted chicken ones come very close. Nice, brittle and crunchy skin and very tasty filling of slightly above average spiciness. Wonder whether they have lamb ones? If so, that will be superb! – 9th June.

With no out-of-town or country travelling, I thought May would be a "safe" month of fewer eats, but several simple eats added to the tally!

Kicked off the month with Belgian chocolate from... er... Dubai, and rounded it off with a Michelin Bib Bak Kut Teh.

Highlights include Toastlah creations by Chef Neeks, Iberico Pork Hokkien Noodles & Satay, Sizzling Buttermilk Wantan Noodles, and OMG noodles with foul but interesting names!
