Take-away Murtabak Kambing from Abadi Cafeteria TTDI – 1st July
Not the most attractive start for the month, but murtabak kambing is one of my favourites!
Patin Fish in Tempoyak Gravy at Saiful Patin Gulai Masam, Dataran Patin Tg Keramat, Kampung Bangau, Temerloh, Pahang – 2nd July
Patin fish in tempoyak gravy is a rural favourite in Malaysia.
Elephant My Friends at The Kuala Ganda Elephant Sanctuary at Lanchang, Pahang – 2nd July
Interesting visit to the Kuala Ganda Elephant Sanctuary.
Unfortunately, the elephant show has been cancelled indefinitely.

Steamed Patin Buah & Sultan Fish (Jelawat) at My Home Kitchen, Mentakab, Pahang – 2nd July
Patin Buah and Sultan Fish are some of the most prized fish in Malaysia.
Steamed with soy sauce is the best way to eat this!
Master Mangosteen at Mentakab, Pahang – 2nd July
Master Mangosteen, a new variety of mangosteen, the Queen of Fruits, with firmer and crunchier flesh. Also not too sweet. It's recognised by having a sharper bottom.
Available in most rural areas and slowly being found in urban markets.
Nasi Lemak Breakfast at You and I Cafe (Warung Kak Su), Kampung Catin, Pahang – 3rd July
Nasi lemak, a perennial Malaysian favourite and deserving of its title of Malaysia's National Dish.
Steamed Patin Buah & Ikan Baung Lunch at My Home Kitchen, Main Branch, Mentakab, Pahang – 3rd July
Another round of delicious steamed fish, this time Patin Buah together with Ikan Baung (Red-tailed Catfish).
Crab Dinner at Hoi Peng, SS2, Petaling Jaya – 5th July
We were looking for a place to eat large crabs; most of the places had only small crabs until we checked with Hoi Peng. We had pretty good-sized crabs cooked in two styles. One was steamed crabs, and the salted-duck eggs crabs. We also had very good belacan fried rice.
Bak Kut Teh Feast by Chef Neeks, TTDI, KL – 6th July
Very nice set of Soup BKT, Dry BKT & Siu Yoke (Roast Pork).
Teacher Saw Nyonya Siamese Laksa, SS2, PJ – 9th July
My favourite Siamese Laksa, take-away from Teacher Saw.
Others that I like: the one from the stall at Chow Yang SS2, PJ; the old ladies selling at their respective stalls at the Mount Erskine Hawker Centre and the Viva Local Food Haven food courts in Penang.
Hokkien Char (Hokkein Fried Noodles) at Kim Lian Kee (金莲记) Paradigm Mall, PJ – 10th July
Kim Lian Kee is reputed to be the creator of the KL Hokkien Char, or KL people just call Hokkien Mee. We had KL Hokkien Char, Watan Hor, Wantan Mee, Wild sugar cane drink & Lor Han Kor (preserved longan) drink.
