Chee Cheong Fun with Whole Crab at The 80s Home Cook Cuisine, Kuchai Lama, KL

After last month's adventure to Central Asia, we would have thought that this would be a tame foodie month. BUT NO! A short holiday to Bali did jazz things up!
Memorable eats for this month included: Chinese Fine Dining at The 80's Home Cook Cuisine, nice Ibu Oka Babi Guling in Ubud, authentic Indonesian Cuisine at Sun Sun Warung, Nasi Padang with curry beef knuckle tendon(gulai kikil) at Sarimande Nusantara, Beef Rendang at Waroeng Bernadette, and Dadar Gulung from various places.

These were brought from a stall during the Theravada Bikkhuni Charity Event at Menara Ken, TTDI. The filling was tasty but overly soft. The crust was crispy but too thin without enough layering

Had these during lunch at Lao Mao in Megah Rise, Taman Megah. Overall, not bad bit the crust could be thicker.

These ones are from Vanakam Kitchen, an Indian restaurant in Kelana Square, PJ The top pleating is beautifully done, but the crust is a bit thin and not adequately layered. The filling is good, though, cooked with cloves to give it an interesting flavour

These ones are from the old lady vendor selling near the Chagee, Damansara Utama. Not too bad, but the crust is a bit sweet.

This big one from the pastry stall of Yong Len Kopitiam, TTDI, is value for money. Although the top pleating looks awkward, the crust is crispy, and the filling is not too bad.

June 2025

June was a month with an interesting start and a wonderful ending of yummy eats! Kicked off with a Dragon Prawn (aka lobster) sashimi at Elite Youmiqi, and ended with a great fusion meal at The Gathering Beast.

Other memorable eats were Bingsu desserts at Binq, and Choux Pastry Desserts from Orito TTDI (for Father's Day Dinner), and simple, packed meals for lunch, lovingly made by our DIL.

Pretty good ones from RSM KEDAI KUIH MUIH VADA, Brickfields. It's a roadside stall. Although the crust does not have adequate layers, the filling is tasty – 8th June.

This Homi handcrafted chicken ones come very close. Nice, brittle and crunchy skin and very tasty filling of slightly above average spiciness. Wonder whether they have lamb ones? If so, that will be superb! – 9th June.
