Portugal, a country of friendly and humble people is a beautiful place to cycle at, we did a stint along it's Atlantic coast while on a tour of Portugal-Spain, and hope to cycle there again in the future.

Cycling Europe 2019: Cycling In Portugal, Spain & France

A multi-mode adventure of the Iberian Peninsular and part of Southern France, starting from the Atlantic coast of Portugal and working our way south and inland to the old cities of Spain and ending at the Meditranean coast at Barcelona.

Cycling Europe 2019 Days 1 & 2: Kuala Lumpur to Porto - Hello Portugal!

We spent the whole of the first day travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Porto and on the second day managed to see some of the city.

From Ovar to Mira it was along a lagoon and then a ferry ride that led us to an interesting Granny's house.

A wrong routing had us singing and dancing along with El Comandante at a truck pit stop!

Cycling Europe 2019 Day 7: Figueira da Foz To Óbidos - Of Trains & Castles

It's a day of train rides as we venture to Obidos and visited a medieval castle.

Cycling Europe 2019 Day 8: Óbidos To Lisbon - Ola Lisboa!

From Óbidos we leave for Lisbon; from a rustic town to a busy metropolis, the capital of Portugal.

Cycling Europe 2019 Day 9: Discovering Lisbon's Attractions

We took a day off from cycling and visited many of Lisbon's attractions, including a ride on the iconic Tram 28.

Cycling Europe 2019 Days 10 & 11 : Lisbon To Faro To Seville - Tchau Portugal, Hola Espanha!

From Lisbon it's by train to Faro and the following day it's by bus crossing into Spain to Seville.

FOOD

Portuguese Caldeirada Fish Stew & Picanha Beef

At Mira we savoured another Portuguese favourite, the cladeirada together with good Picanha beet. The starter was a surprise bonus of delicacies from six regions - Restaurante Salgáboca, Mira, Portugal

Good Local Portuguese Food In Porto @ Restaurante Nova Luanda

A homely place with good local-style food cooked by Mama for the local blue collars.

Good Portuguese Francesinha In Porto, Portugal

Porto is renown for it Francesiha dish, and the best place to try them is at Brasão Cervejaria Aliado.

Portuguese Grilled Octopus (Polvo grelhado) @ Restaurante Bacalhau Lisbon

Grilled octopus should not be missed when in Portugal, and Bacalhau serves one of the better ones.

PLACES

Portugal: Chapel of Bones (Capela de Ossos) & Igreja do Cormo

Faro renown for it's sunny Atlantic seafront holds another attraction: a chapel built from bones! And a main church that holds one of the best gilt timber carvings. - Faro, Portugal.

Portugal: Óbidos Castle (Castelo de Óbidos)

Just an hour away from busy Lisbon is Óbidos Castle, charming with it's quiet and rustic medieval town - Óbidos, Portugal.
