THAILAND CYCLING ROUTE MAPS
Below are maps of routes that we had cycled in Thailand. This includes cycling in the provinces of South Thailand during a tour in mid-2016 & a tour of Isan Thailand at the end of 2016. And also a 2024 road trip of the Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son Loop in Lanna Thailand.

Cycling Route : Chiangkhanburi Hotel>Phajoamnang Temple>Wat Tha Samran>Pak Chom Food Market>Rim Khong Resort (Pak Chom).
Cycling Distance: 43.16 km. | Level: Medium
The route runs along Route 211 and mostly hugs the Mekong but at a few sections do cut inland to avoid the cliffs at the river side. It is an interesting route passing by small towns and rural scenes.

Small group tour of the Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son Loop, Thailand. Day 1 Around Chiang Mai:
Not wanting to take an early morning red-eye flight, we took an afternoon flight and arrived a day earlier than the rest of the tour group. Giving us half a day to explore Chiang Mai. The van picked us up from the airport, dropped us for a quick hotel check in AND we are off on the van again to go for a nice dinner and shopping after that; the girls could not be more delighted!

Today is going to be a long day as we opted to go for a day trip to visit Chiang Rai's attractions. Normally, others would stay at least one night in Chiang Rai, but we had only one day before returning back to Kuala Lumpur. So see how we did it, and more as we "visited" the Golden Triangle too!

Chiang Mai To Huai Nam Dong Thailand Route Map
While waiting for the rest of the tour group to arrive, we did a walk around Chiang Mai old town for breakfast and visits to some of the temples! After that we started our 11-day road trip heading for our first destination, Huai Nam Dong. Enroute stops were a royal park and the oldest temple in Chiang Mai.

Cycling Route - Khlong Thom>Krabi>Phuket.
In actuality, we did not cycle this planned route as a couple of us fell sick and we took a van from Khlong Thom to Phuket (dirve route is shown in red & blue). Our aborted cycling plans was from Khlong Thom to Krabi, stay a night there. Following day was suppose to be as ferry ride to the Kho Yao islands, with a night there to enjoy beach-lazing. After that it was another ferry to Phuket town. This aborted cycling route is shown in orange, and ferry rides in green. Click on ship icon to see the names of ferry terminals.

On arrival at Loei Airport we cycled down via dedicated cycling lanes into town to check-in to our hotel. Later we cycled around town and to a park and the Loei River side.

Cycling Route : Loei Muanmanee Hotel>by car>Highway R&R (near Chiang Khang Provincial Electricity Authority Building)>Wat Tha Khaek>Kaeng Khut Khu>Chiang Khan Park>Chiangkhanburi Hotel.
Cycling Distance: 20.16 km. | Level: Easy (as part way was by car)
From Loei, to beat the monotonous and heavy traffic we drove partway along Route 211 and from there cycled to Chiang Khan. Here was our first meeting with the Mighty Mekong and later being charmed by old-world rustic Chiang Khan.

It's goodbye to Mae Sariang as we head for Doi Inthanon, it's the last leg of our journey before we return to Chiang Mai. Along the way, we stopped at a gateway viewpoint and later did some hiking that took us on a diversified route.

The route is rather flat and started off with a bit of rural road cycling approaching the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. On the Laos side, there is a switch over of traffic directions, we had to remind each other to cycle on the right side of the road. Also, as we got nearer Vientiane, the roads got wider and busier.

Distance: 10.9km | Level: Easy
This was a simple, casual ride and actually our first time cycling in Bangkok! It takes us on a short loop around the Nonthaburi district with a visit to the Central Plaza Rattanathibet and the Maha Chesadabodindranusorn Bridge.

Total Distance: 48.15 km. Cycling Distance: 23.82 km. | Level: Medium (due to the busy traffic along the streets of Bangkok).
From Nonthaburi, we took on the crazily busy streets of Bangkok to reach British Cycle Square and from there took a short car ride for some calm cycling on Ko Kret, an island in the middle of the Chao Phraya. Would have been an easy ride except for having to traverse across the busy streets of Bangkok.

Today we will stick around Pai and start in the wee morning hours to go to the to Yun Lai Viewpoint to catch a beautiful sunrise. This will be followed by a visit to the Santichon Chinese Village for some fun time, and later dipping in another hot spring before having a LOVELY coffee and returning to Pai.

This route includes a boat ride to go bird watching at the Thale Noi Waterfowl Reserve. The cycling route is from Thale Noi to Phatthalung with a quick stop at the Pak Pra River Bridge for some scenic photos, and a rest stop at the Saen Suk Lampam Beach.

Trang To Wang Wiset Thailand Cycling Route Map (65.63km)
The route take goes along mini dragon-backs that meander round the rubber plantations foothills of the area. An interesting stop is at the Le Khao Kop Cave for a scary boat ride through the cavern system.
